Bede's Eastbourne - summer school in the UK

Bede's Eastbourne School, Bede's Primary School, opens its doors in the summer for primary school children aged 6 to 11. Bede's is one of the largest and best-known primary schools in Sussex and was established over a century ago. The natural surroundings of Sussex are of astonishing beauty. The school overlooks the English Channel.

The school is very well equipped. The campus has a swimming pool, games pitches, drama studio, computer centre, sports room and dance studio.

The maximum number of students per move is 55 full-board students and 50 part-time students.

Attention! For children who come to the resort with their parents, there is a day school that runs from 8.30 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday. Children can also stay from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm for dinner and evening activities at an extra cost of £35 per evening.

Curriculum
For children: Little Explorers - 23.5 hours of English lessons per week, Monday to Friday (17.5 hours). On the first day, pupils are tested. Based on their results, students are divided into groups according to their English level.  A total of 7 levels are available, ranging from beginner to advanced. The maximum group size is 12 students. All language skills are stressed, with an emphasis on fluency. The programme includes e-learning which focuses on the environment, science, ecology, space, energy, geography and technology. At the end of the programme, the students receive certificates.

Students aged 6-11 who come to the school have the opportunity to prepare for the Trinity Stars and Trinity GESE exams and take these at the end of the course. All language levels are available. The Trinity Stars and Trinity GESE exam preparation course lasts for 2 weeks.

For adults: Parent English lessons - Parents and other adults accompanying their children may also join the school. The course consists of 10 hours of English tuition per week. The lessons are from Monday to Friday, 09.00-11.15 for levels A0-B1 and 11.30-14.00 for levels B2-C1. Minimum class size 8 students. The price includes an entertainment programme with lunch, which takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 pm to 5 pm. 

Accommodation and meals
Accommodation: Children stay in cosy rooms for 4-8 people. The facilities are on the floor.

Meals: The menu is varied. It includes British dishes, as well as other international dishes. At lunch and dinner, there are always at least two hot meals to choose from and various salads. Children should be aware that the food will be different from what they are used to at home. It's the experience of being in another country!

Sports activities

Boys and girls participate in sports every day. On campus: Soccer, Swimming, Aerobics, Tennis, Table tennis, Cricket and Volleyball. Off-campus: go-karting, bowling, mountain biking, etc.

There are also Academies, sports and creative activities with professional teachers and instructors for an extra fee. Please note: You may not participate in two sports per week! The level ranges from beginner to intermediate. Classes take place in the afternoon or evening. All lessons take place in a group. Academies must be booked in advance, as places are limited.

Excursion and recreational programme

Recreational Activities: A variety of activities are offered each day which include T-shirt decorating, bracelet making, mask-making and painting.

Excursions: Two excursions per week, one full-day and one half-day excursion. Excursions every Wednesday (Herstmonceux Observatory, Paradise Park, Urban Jump) and Saturday to London and other places of interest (Brighton, Hastings, Windsor, Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland).
